Tokyo: Sengawa
Sengawa reveals itself in small, deliberate moments-less spectacle, more rhythm. Daruma dolls line shelves like watchful talismans, while cyclists glide through narrow shopping streets where daily life unfolds unhurried and precise. Temple guardians stand firm against flashes of red and gold, grounding the neighborhood in ritual and continuity, even as traffic signs, trucks, and apartment blocks signal the present pressing in. Just beyond the streets, bamboo rises in quiet abundance, filtering light and sound, offering a pause from the city’s pulse. Through these images, Sengawa felt very intimate and lived-in-a Tokyo neighborhood where tradition, routine, and nature coexist without announcement, simply carrying on.
