Welcome to The Edit—a collection of personal essays, observations, and photography about life as it is: beautiful, complicated, funny, occasionally messy, and always changing.
Each entry is an Edit, a closer look at something worth noticing. Friendship and family. Travel and home. Growing older and knowing ourselves better. The things we carry, the things we let go, and the small pleasures that make an ordinary day feel like something more.
Some Edits ask questions. Some tell stories. Others simply stop long enough to notice something I don't want to forget.
These stories may begin with me, but so much of what we feel, question, carry, and celebrate is shared. I hope you'll find something here that speaks to you, too.
THE EDIT
Edit 60: On Adult Friendships and Not Keeping Score
When a friendship begins to feel more like competition than community, what do you do? My controversial take: let them win.
Edit 59: FINALLY!
Sometimes it takes 20 years of passion to leap into the unknown. But I finally did it.
Edit 58: What Isn’t Ours To Carry
People will not always be kind, but we have a choice: to carry that hurt with us, or set it down. Because someone else’s unkindness is not ours to carry.
Edit 45:On Adult Friendships: The Friend Within
There's a question I keep returning to, one that disappears for a while before finding its way back. Am I as good a friend to myself as I am to the people I love? It turns out knowing yourself and befriending yourself are two very different things.
Edit 30: On Adult Friendships:Nearness vs. Closeness
Some friendships dissolve when the routine does. Others reveal themselves to be deeper than proximity ever suggested. The difference, I've learned, is everything.
Edit 26: Shūchū
Life, Edited began in the in-between. This February, I found a word that names it: Shūchū—deep focus, clear vision, and peace in the choosing.
Edit 24: On Adult Friendships: Visibility & Boundaries
Adult friendships shift as life does. Being visible takes energy, and not everyone needs full access. This edit is about finding that balance — and learning to protect what matters most.
